table top draping Q

hi all, i am designing some small table tops. i want to do a drape type thing with the edge. say an inch and a half or so drape all the way around. so what do you think would be a good material to make my mold with? mild steel? rigidised fiber? plaster? anybody got a learning curve to share? thanks, rosanna

I would use Unifrax HD board. I sometimes cover it with fiberfrax blanket coated with alumina powder. You didn't mention what kind of glass. If it is float, and you are not fusing I would fire to 1365 and soak until you like the look. If you are fusing float, fire to 1420.

ok, thanks. i will try the steel first since i live in the land of metal shops. time to go hit the ole scrap piles. rosanna
