what kind of sand?

During my problem with the kiln not shutting off, I had some large mixed up frit in a large ceramic strip mold (kind of like a murri mold only larger) I need to sandblast off the kiln wash that stuck.
The neighbor has a sand blaster, do I need special sand or can he just use what he has?
I am going to be chopping up the strips and refire them.
