Flower former too high for kiln?

Post by Pat Reynolds »

My kiln is 11" deep, with top and side heating elements. I have a 7" high flower former I would like to use. Allowing for kiln shelf and 1" posts, does this leave the glass too close to the heating element? This is probably an elementary question but have just purchased this kiln and am still at the "know nothing" stage.

Take out the kiln shelf and place the flower former on the bottom of the kiln. Fire slow.

Make sure your kiln floor is well kiln washed.
