Kiln Shelf Question

I bought my first kiln from Paragon. The kiln arrived shortly before the holiday. They included the shelf, but unfortunately there were no legs in the shipment. They are closed for the holiday, and I am eager to do some playing around  I probably won't get the posts from them for over a week.

I am planning on slumping some bottles, and have some molds.

My question is: Can I lay the shelf flat on the bottom of the kiln (without the legs), and place the mold on the shelf, to do some test firing/slumping? Or should I just wait until the shelf posts arrive? I know this won't give me a true representation of firing schedules, but I want to play around a little, and make sure I don't mess up...

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply Kevin...to clarify...yes I can place the shelf directly on the floor?, or yes I should wait for the posts? :D

Any caveats?
