Re: Stamping Brass
I'd love to hear what the experts say because I work a LOT with brass stampings in my jewelry. my guess is that you are going to have issues with air pockets if you cap with clear. maybe sifting some clear powder on top would be better? I did try to fuse a gear onto glass
and the gear popped right off however a great impression was left when the top layer of the gear's metal stuck to the glass. might be something to play around with.

How thick is the brass? If it's thicker than a sheet of paper, I'd say you'd crack your glass. But maybe not. Experiment.

Yes, too thick will result in incompatibility cracks. My experience with thin brass inclusions (sheet and wire) is that it creates tons of little bubbles, like dirty frothy bubbles, all over the brass.

I agree. So this is where using powder or frit over the brass might helpValerie Adams wrote:Yes, too thick will result in incompatibility cracks. My experience with thin brass inclusions (sheet and wire) is that it creates tons of little bubbles, like dirty frothy bubbles, all over the brass.
