drop rings

Post by Paul Schulz »

howdy all ,,i am going to have a go at using a drop ring hope to make a small vase the ring has a top of 5.5" wide, the hole 3 " and hope to get a drop of about 5" to 6 ". so here is the question ,will be using 3mm glass ,,how many layer should i fuse together for the blank (am thinking 4),,and will it mater a great deal if i end up with a few air bubbles in the blank as some of the glass is a heavy texture,,all so should i put a clear layer over iridised glass..many thanks

I always follow Brad's advise as was stated in this Warmtip:

I made a couple of small vases last year, just to try. The small air bubbles elongate into thinnish lines.

I thought i should spend a lot more time improving the blank, but when people saw the vases, everyone commented, to my surprise, that they loved the air bubbles.

Good luck with your project, seachange
