Have ordered and used several scales from these guys with good results: http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/gold-scales.html

Lots to choose from, YMMV.....

There's a billion of them on Amazon. I like the "Blade" scale, accuracy is what your looking for, and goes up to 2.2Lbs in weight. There's larger capacities, I just dont need it yet. $9

I use a triple balance beam scale from my pottery glaze mixing days.

The OHAUS Triple Beam Balance is a solid and time tested standard for up to 2610g. Additional Counter weights increase the 610g amount that can be weighed. The scales are extremely accurate and will out live most of us.

eBay. Spent too many years messing with my daggone beam scale, so I use digital scales, bought all on eBay. My Ohaus is accurate to .1g and weighs up to a bit less than a pound (400g). I mostly use it for mixing precise amounts of frit/powder, and use a postal scale for heavier things (silicone, refractory plasters, etc.).

Barry, normally Harbor Freight is the first place I'll head, and their digital scales aren't bad for heavier things. The ones I've seen there, though, couldn't maintain that level of accuracy.

Au contaire,

I still work with some lapidary rough and have a carat scale. Checking the HF gram scale against the carat scale shows a very good accuracy to .1 gm.

Hmmm, they must have upgraded. I got one there a few years back, supposedly that accurate, and at 7 or 8 grams it still registered .25gm, so I gave up on it.

Good to know.

HF is hit or miss. the quality control from item to item, even identical shipments, is off. look through some of the bins of items, and you can pick out the lemons of the group. it wouldn't surprise me that 2 scales wouldn't have near the same accuracy. they do have a good return policy though, so i'd measure or use something a bunch when new to see if it's going to hold up or be what is needed.
