Pot melt COE 96

Post by Outrigger42 »

The manufacturer of my kiln says it will not withstand 1700. How do I do a pot melt at lower temperature. I am using one of Patty Grays 5 hole molds.

I've done pot melts at 1650. Gil Reynolds does his low-temp- wire pours at 1465.

You can get the glass to flow at lower temperature you'll just need to hold it at top temp longer. Depending on your kiln, 1650 or 1675 will work. You don't mention how much glass you will have in the pot, but take a peak after about a 45 minute hold at top temperature to see how things are going. Add more time as you need to.
