sorry, didn't see there was Page 2 of pictures. Celtic Knot is extremely attractive. wish i could see it in person! i'm just at the beginning of using mica, and it's interesting to see what others are doing. Kitty.

Cliff,

Very carefully, ha. All kidding aside, you have to make a firing of strips, in my case 13, that have refactory strips spaced underneath them. At slumping temps, the strips fall in the spaces and you get a set of hills and valleys. Take 6 of them and turn over and space in between the other 7 and you will create a tunnel that you can slide another set of "straight" strips through! Now you have a full weave that is of course very loose. You can now just tack fuse it together and slump later. What you are seeing is the second generation of trials using Spectrum "rack" pack glass. It has quite a bit of devit, but I was just trying to see if I could do it! To get the tunnels, I had to use a stack of paper 3/8" high to get a space that was big enough for 1/8" glass strips to slide through. Good Luck.

What did you use to put the micas on?
Were you silk screening them. If so what do you use as a mixing medium with the micas on the screen.

Thanks for the information on how to "Weave" the glass. Your way makes more sense than what I was trying, and NO, I won't tell you about it. Sufice to say I bled for an hour.

most probably with an airbrush. medium is klyrfire.

process:
airbrush on a complete layer of mica
fuse fire
mask design with resist
sandblast
firepolish fire
