Loren Stump's skill with this stuff is, well, amazing. I watched a demo he did several years ago and he was one of those guys who just groks hot glass--he knew exactly where it was moving and how it would end up.

Others who are really good: Dinah Hulet, but I'm not sure she's doing much with portraiture right now:

Absolutely unbelievable . The detail in the figures is so out of the ordinary and into the WOW factor that it is almost unbelievable that it is glass. Oh how I wish I could see a section in the real and touch and feel it. I so would love to see just the angel section before it is put even into this section. AND thank you again for posting and Cynthia as well, this is a wonderful thing to wake up to with my morning coffee. I am so inspired I can hardly sit here for a moment. Wow!
(I think I have been waiting for this for some time and am so excited to get into my studio. Who knows what this brain lightening strike will do) nothing as amazing as that but it will be fun what ever comes from the sheer excitement of being alive to see this.

Leslie, here is a glimmering of how Loren does the murrini. It is a YouTube video of a demonstration he did at Corning. There is also another video on YouTube of him creating and encasing florals.
