Kachina Bowls

Two new bowls, both are 22 inch diameter, system 96 glass. The turquoise and black one (lower bowl) has an irregular edge, made by placing 10 large powder wafers on top of 10 turquoise green slices of glass (shaped like pizza slices) Then those ten "slices" were placed on one large single layer of black glass. The black glass pulled up between the "slices" giving the piece a scalloped edge, no cold working. The brown and turquoise bowls was also made with powder wafers, with a cold worked edge,

Looks like you're having a lot of fun!
I especially appreciate you taking the 'basic' powder wafer concept and making it your own.

These are really great! I especially appreciate the way you work with the glass' inherent tendancy to pull up. Very cool and showcases your craftmanship and attention to detail. I like them both very much.

Beautiful plates! I especially like the "10 slice" one. Very fun!
What can you tell me about the brown glass that makes the background on the piece in the first photo? I love the cobblestone texture that it has.

Thank you all for the positive feedback! It was much needed, I entered both of these bowls in a show last month and they were both rejected. I will keep plugging on!

Whoever rejected them didn't appreciate glass work....disregard their opinion and keep up the good work!

Years ago, well back in last century, in another country, I was asked to enter a painting in the local show. I entered a quite passable oil of the head of an Arab stallion. It came second. A paint-by-numbers of The Last Supper came first. In retrospect, a rejection would have been a blessing. Jen
