What an elegant piece! I love the closeup where you can see down into the various levels of the squares. Does that mean that with each successive layer, a square of clear was inserted to maintain the visibility? Not sure if I asked that question coherently enough. Your work is so imaginative.

Tim,
Beautiful and unique. How tall is the bowl and was it a drop out mold?

Warren,
Yes, it was a 12 inch drop out. The bowl is about 8 inches deep. Here is a photo of the build pre-fire; about 1800 pieces...

Tim,
When you say it was a 12" drop out, do you mean that the hole was 12" and the ring edge larger or did you mean that the ring was 12" and the hole smaller?
Thanks.

Warren

Warren,
It is a 12 inch hole in the middle of a 20 by 20 kiln shelf. The blank before the drop was 19 by 19. Tim

Tim,
Thanks. That is a terrific set up for a large bowl that is shiny on both sides.

Lovely work, Tim. I really enjoy seeing both the work and the process shots. (well...I'm a process shot fanatic... ;-) )
