Question - good wax choice for casting?

Post by spark »

Hi Folks,

I had a quick read of the archive and saw that people mentioned using a combination of victory brown and sprue wax for lost wax casting. I think I read somewhere that victory brown wax has toxic fumes? Can anyonw recommend a good low/non toxic wax suitable for creating objects for lost wax casting?

Thanks for helping out a keen newbie,
Spark.

Hi Spark,

Yes, the fumes from hot microcrystalline wax are not good for you. Use good ventilation over the wax pot, and/or wear a good repirator. Warm wax won't hurt you any, though.
