Need tips on selling wholesale

I have been doing the art show circuit for 14 years and have only sold to stores when they come in my booth. I was just kicked out of all the shows for my upcoming season (8 shows) It's too late to apply to other shows, as the deadlines have all ready passed for Jan and Feb shows. Can you give me advice on selling to galleries and stores. Do you just go in cold and ask. I would assume you bring a piece with you and pictures. Help please any advice welcome.

yes. find stores that, to you, look like your items would 'fit' into well. go in with some samples, pictures, price lists, and some sort of bio/resume. you might want to call first to find out who to approach and when they'd be there, as the person in the shop may not have any say in the matter. some places will want you to mail them pictures instead of seeing it first. that way, it's easier to ignore you if they're not interested. :roll:
