Recycled or eco friendly packaging materials

Post by Geo »

Hello all,

I am looking to find something like recycled shredded cardboard to use for packaging some fragile glass pieces for shipment. Does anyone on this board use this type of material, and can you offer some advice on how to go about this? I've done some web searching to locate such materials locally (northeast Ohio), and have been coming up short.

Thanks!

The machine to do it has been on my "buy" list for a long time.

The company that makes the "proper' shredders to do this type of shredding is called HSM. But that machines start at about 2000 on Ebay.

To buy shredded cardboard, paper etc is surprisingly expensive.

But I just had an idea though... It seems that a lot of people use it for bedding in barns for horses and so forth. I am wondering if you could find it at tack or animal supply places cheaper? As you are in OH, just a thought.
