website listing submissions

I have to make some quickie websites for some friends for open studios in May. I can't seem where to submit my new website addresses so that they appear when searched by Google or other search engine. Long long time ago I remember you could just go to Google or yahoo and submit a url. Of course I would like to do this with out paying a fortune preferably free. thanks for any advice.

I think this is what you want. Google's got a whole analytics toolkit that can be a big help.

It can take a little while before it starts showing up.
