Melting Uroboros Clear Glass

Post by glassconfusion »

I have a great deal of Uroboros clear glass (90) that I want to melt one layer deep in my kiln to form a new sheet of glass. I know it will not be perfectly smooth but what is the range of temperatures (knowing each kiln fires differently) to melt the pieces together to hopefully form a new sheet? thanks everyone.

Well, if you take it to 1500 and hold for 10 minutes, it will be smooth.

However, at that "smoothing" temperature, it will be about 1/4 inch thick. So stack it thick enough to not develop "holes" as it spreads during the heat and contracts during the cooling.
