hello all...I have a question.I have a piece that needs some painting with
traditional paints and also fire polishing. can I do them both at the same time (no, not the actual painting, the firing of the paint) or would the higer polish temp damage the paint? I await your collective wisdom.
many thanks..Cristi

If you are using high-fire Reusches, you can fire-polish, slump, and cure the paint un-sandwiched to about 1330 degrees. If you are using a waterbase paint, you can apply a very thin layer under clear and fuse fire up to about 1500 degrees. I do both all the time, but have only experience with the Reusche line of paints.... you'll have to experiment with other brands.

The trick is to use enamels that gloss in the temp range at which you want to fire polish. Ferro Sunshine series does this. See archives
