Chasing the Eclipse

Post by Sharol »

I've been enjoying experimenting with brighter colors. The inspiration for this piece came from the unusual light and shadow effects caused by the recent solar eclipse. That experience was eerie and yet familiar in some ways. The bowl is 16" x 3" and approx 11 m thick.

Way cool! I like the way you're combining techniques to create something I haven't seen before.

I really like this too. I like how the combing pulls together the different elements in the piece. Very nice!

WOW! I really like this! I am thinking this took quite a bit to do....pot melt, crackle, raking? Bravo =D> And I like your colors, how thick is it?

Thank you all for your feedback! :)
Shawn - It's just under 1/2" thick. The rim required 4 layers.

You are doing some amazing things and creating art, instead of just technique. You received compliments from some outstanding glass artists. Be happy!
Take care.

Wow! Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments. Getting these techniques to work together continues to be an adventure :)

Bob - It's especially wonderful to read your comment! Taking your class last fall was an inspiration. I have been experimenting with crackle and working to incorporate it into my compositions ever since. It opened up a whole new direction for me. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and discoveries!

I love very much what you do, Sharol, this piece as well as others.

In your pieces Technique becomes art.

This is so good, compositionally I mean, you enslave the technique to your compositional ideas,
how to restrain yourself. not to let the excitment of a technique, overpower the necessety of making art.
I appreciate this.
I want to be in this place too.
I envy you............... [in the better sense of the word]

Good luck,
Havi
