Schedule advice

Post by osnat »

Hello evryone,

I would love to hear your advice about firing Schedule. In must places i re
The main factor that effects the anniling process is the thickness of glass.and There are
basic schedule at Spectrum web.

But what is the effect of the size of the work ?

It is clear to me, largerer work need Slower and longer annilling process.
A very general statement. I want to give what it needs and no more . is there a way to "calculate" the required.

For example, for work Spectrum 96, 55cmX 55 cm, 6 mm,( first Llayer 3mm clear glass, the second layer design in large parts transparent/Opaque).
What firing schedule do you recommend ?
Thank
Osnat.

Larger work doesn't need a longer annealing schedule, the annealing is based on the thickness, not the area.
You do, however, have to worry more about thermal shock on bigger pieces, because of the larger surface area.

For a piece of the size you suggest I would use:

250 1150 60
200 1450 20 (LOOK)
200 950 60
100 550 OFF

You can certainly go faster if you wish, but I never saw the need.

If you are capping with clear, the design of the piece is prone to bubbles -- anywhere two pieces come together, gaps between the two pieces will cause air pockets, which result in bubbles when fired.

There are many schedules here on the board and on the Internet for a "bubble squeeze" which will help to alleviate this problem.

On a busy design like that I would not cap it with clear. Even with a good bubble squeeze program it will be prone to problems. Your schedule is very odd all around.

I would fire it

250 / 1100 hold 30 min
50 / 1250 hold 60 min. (bubble squeeze)
350 to finish temp (depending on the look you want)
9999 to anneal hold 60 min
100 to 750 hold 30 and off

If you really want that clear on top fire it face down for the first firing the flip and fire.
You can try 100 to 1250 for you bubble squeeze .....all I can tell you is that I do not have bubble problems with this above schedule.
