best quality bump on feet for bowls

Post by seachange »

Hi,

I am making a series of bowls, many are slumped into either the classic bowl or the ball mold, medium size.

The gallery that is interested in these told me they would like rubber feet on them. They find many of their customers are concerned about scratching their furniture (either glass or wood surfaces).

Last year I bought some generic brand bumpons at the local hardware store, but they fall off eventually.

Has anyone got experience with this, could you please recommend a brand, and perhaps a good shape? Intend to use 3 on each bowl. I am thinking that as flat and as invisible as possible would be best, but not too small, otherwise there is not enough glue surface.

Many thanks, seachange

just bought a couple thousand 3-M brand and they seem to be working very well. they were much cheaper than any others I found. can send you some if you need a few hundred. about $.06 ea. if any of them get very hot they can slip around and fall off. don't put them on a light or in intense sunlight where they can get hot.no matter who made them.

I got some nice and tiny bump-ons from His Glassworks (look under "acccessories")...current price shows as $4.95 for a sheet of 225. I've used them on coasters for a few years now, and they stick well and are unobtrusive. I really like them.

Thanks Michele, good to see a specialized company, and US made. I'll check quantities with them.

Thanks Lynn, I have to email His, because I remember trying to look at them before placing my order, but the bottom half of his accessories page does not open for me. By the time I had put together the rest of my order, forgot completely about the feet.

Hi Tom, which ones did you get?

Many thanks for the offer, I have sent you a PM about the possibility of shipping some to me.

However, if I know the number of the ones you are happy with, I can first try to get them locally. 3M has an extensive list of different ones, and there is a distributor in Australia, but it does not mean they actually carry in stock everything that is in the catalogue.

Thanks again, best regards, seachange
