Navajo

Post by Yardic Glassworks »

I had a good friend ask about making a strip bowl with a Navajo style pattern. This is what I ended up with. Just finished the edges and it goes in for slump this afternoon.

Great work Tim,

I enlarged the image and saw that your lines are perfectly aligned and symmetrical. Incredible detail.

Cheers,

Is that white and clear in those subtle stripes? This is very well done!

Survived the slump and now you can better see the edges. Someone asked about clear strips; There is no clear in this bowl. The lighter colors are Ivory and Almond. Thanks, Tim

That is a beautiful bowl. Did you find the pattern online or create it yourself? Your work shows perfection!

Brad,
I reviewed patterns on a number of Navajo blankets and found some common themes throughout, such as the zig zag, then drew my own pattern which resulted in this piece. If you go to The Glass Hole Facebook page you can see photos of the build. Thanks for your nice comments. Tim

Anyplace else that I can view the build besides Facebook? I don't "like" Facebook.

Wonderfully precise; I very much like the way you've captured the "blanket" quality. ;-)
