Just installed these a few weeks ago. THey're float glass with paints and stains.

Wow!!These panels are beautiful . . . and it's hard to believe they could have been made with float glass, paints and stains!

Osnat, the term 'enamel' is unfortunately used to refer to several types of decorative glass coatings with differing characteristics. But to most stained glass painters of a traditional style, enamel is a glass paint which matures in the kiln at temperatures <1100°F.osnat wrote:I like it.

A 'stain' is a different glass treatment. It is a mud-like preparation containing an oxide of silver that is applied to glass and fired. When the mud is removed after firing, the silver that migrated into the glass causes the light that passes through the glass to appear yellowish or gold or amber in color. There is also a copper-based stain that is used to create pink coral color-to-ruby color on certain types of glass. I didn't use copper stain in this set of windows, only silver stain.
