Jewellery box.

Finally found the time to finish off something for a friend. The lid is made from thin strips of float laid into an open mould dug into a kiln brick. The body of box is a failed bubble block ground to shape and polished. Not keen on waste so was happy enough to put the hours in for someone who's been there for us. peace, haydo

Wow, Haydo! Looks like a lot of coldworking on your part. I think your failure has turned into a huge success. Again, wow!

It's just beautiful, Haydo. I am so impressed by your bubble blocks. The movement is visually very compelling. What a lovely and generous gift for your friend.

That is an intrigueing(sp?) piece. I'd love to figure out how to do that! It's really lovely!

Compliments are appreciated, thank you. Small kilns can do a lot in a studio. Won't try and revisit this too soon but am happy it's something that can be tweaked and played with down the track. To figure it out is just a matter of working out how to get a bubble to stay where it's wanted, journey is half the fun.
Jen, the block containment starts at between 85 to 90mm square, with a bit of heat up its bum this can change. Mad rush to finish this off before fly out to Nauru and have only now realised that I didn't engrave it as I was supposed to do. peace, haydo

Pay attention while you're on Nauru, don't get sucked in by the travel brochures for Cambodia! Jen

I feel genuinely sad for any of the pawns in this game of "bring on police state" that have a real need to resettle in Australia. Cambodia could be a win win, and may allow to show how the world can move forward from all of this fear and hatred. Could become the perfect model. Now that would be some @#$%&*! artist to pull that one off.
For now the problem of terrible "terrorism" is paying for me to have studio time. At the moment I can't afford to be politically reactive, but my cause will always be the problem of discreet genocide in West Papua. Just need the balls to jump off of the thingamejig that rats run around on. peace, haydo
