Slumped glass form

Post by Doug Randall »

We used to call them floppy bowls, rounds of glass places on top of a cylindrical SS form, like an old milkshake mixing container. What do you folks call the bowls they make. Haven't seen them in years.

Doug,

I think they call them floral formers.

Doug- you must not be getting out much.
The blowers call them handkerchief vases (blow a bubble, open it and spin it out then let it drape) but I've got another name for them that I can't use here.

Back in the 80's I paid $18 for a floral former from a glass wholesaler. Then I bought a martini shaker for $3.50 from a restaurant supply house. it turned out they were exactly the same, same manufacturer and everything.

The formal name for them is "fazzoletto" or "fazzoletto vase." But like Marty said, it means "handkerchief."

I think they are a novice piece produced following success making "coasters". We were all there at one time longgggggg ago!
