Patty Gray Mold

Post by Deb »

I just purchased one of the Patty Gray Dam Mold. I kiln washed it and then found some instructions on the web that indicated to use boron nitrate. Is kiln washed and then lining with shelf paper ok to use?

Boron nitrate ain't. You'll want boron nitride but if this is a ceramic mold then I don't know why kiln wash won't work. Lining with shelf paper before firing will most likely get you a lump of crumpled fiberpaper in the bottom of the mold, stuck to the glass in ways you won't like.
However, I haven't gone through the tutorial........

Love the PG Dam molds. Use them per the directions and you will have good success. That being said, I think kiln wash would be fine, but do line the bottom with Papyros or Thinfire.
