Quartz tubing

Post by Terry Gallentine »

I am considering using quartz tube to hang some ceiling elements in and I have a couple of questions. One is whether the wall thickness of the tube makes any difference. In other words, will the thin wall work as well as the thicker wall? The other question is how much larger does the id of the tube have to be than the od of the element?

I have quartz tubes in both of the kilns I have built. The tubes are quite thin maybe 2mm thick, the elements fit rather snug into the quartz tubes.

I've bought the elements as well as the quartz from duralite.
