Devit Spray and Dichoric

Post by grammy »

I am making projects that seem to be getting devit on the second firing. These pieces will have dichroic on the top and tack fused. Will the clear coating affect the dichroic? TIA

Yes, it is likely. Better to make a test strip with materials you intend to use. Devit spray can be blotchy or change the color of the dichroic.

There is devit spray, and there is devit spray.
Glass based devit sprays may well cause problems with dichro. I don't use them, so I can't say.
But borax based devit sprays do not affect dichro. Plenty of experience with that.
I have a tutorial on my web site on how to make cheap borax based agent.

My experience is that Homemade Anti-Devit spray removed iridized surfaces from fusible glass - but I've not tried it on dichroic. Good luck and post pictures please.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to try it later. My art show is over and I am going to relax for a little.
