Credit Cards - Who do you use for your merchant account?

Post by afilloon »

Hi All,
I was going through the archives and recent posts about taking credit cards and saw that there were some changes late last year.

Could those of you who take credit cards make any recommendations on Merchant Account companies? Dinah and I are going to start taking CCs at shows this year. We will only be doing 6 from June to December and won't be using them over the web (we don't want to compete with our galleries).

So, before we take the plunge, I wanted to get your input.

Thanks!

Here's a link to a recent discussion about this:

In addition there's another thread about "Dial Pay".

Good luck!

Hi Geri, Thanks for the pointer!

That thread was acutally what prompted me to ask what merchant services others are using. In it I read about the monthly minimum and wondered what service most people settled on.

I also read, on one of the merchant account sites, that VISA was going to institute an increase in their discount rate, effective 4/1/04; has anyone else heard of this?

Talk to Guy McDonald at TeaMac.
His website is: http://www.teamacinc.com/

We personally do not use him, yet.....cuz when we found out about him we were already hooked up with Novus. But many artists speak very highly of him and his service. We are thinking about changing and Guy is the man we will go too.

Hope this helps.

CC Processors/Merchant accounts

Post by GlassOrchid »

I've used several over the years ....

Key Bank - no problems with them. Only left to use Wells Fargo since it is integrated with Quickbooks.

Now use:

iPayments (for online processing) - no problems.
Wells Fargo (for processing thru my accounting package - no problems.

I didn't really have much of a choice on these two; the first is what my shopping cart company uses and the second is one of two choices for companies that are hooked into Quickbooks.

Technology drove both these choices but I've been happy with them.
