Size of overlap for clear?

I am fusing some small cabochons for pendants, with clear on top & cannot for the life of me remember just how much of an overlap (of the top piece) gives the best results. Can anyone help increase my very small amount of fusing know-how?

Hi quill,

It generally depends on what I am aiming for - sometimes it can look interesting to have a bit more of that clear outlining the edge ... however, as a general rule on small cab type items I use an 1/8" all the way around ...

It also depends on the glass thickness ... so that is a very general rule of thumb for me!

overlap = thickness of base glass.

thickness of cap (BE thin or regular) gives different effect. Thick gives a bigger radius and magnifies elements placed on the base differently.
