FYI OTC glues

Post by watershed »

HEre's something I have learned.

Loctite Glass Adhesive; Red syinge, $3.77 at Home Depot (wait for it) Optically clear i.e. if you glue a piece together, the refraction from the crack disappears.

Super Glue Glass Adhesive: Red syringe, $2.77 At Home depot, NOT optically clear, crack refraction remains after gluing.

Evidently the Home Depot and Lowes contracts for glues came up at the same time. So Now, Loctite is at Lowes, and Super glue at Home Depot. Why does this matter? It seems that Lowes did NOT pick up the Locktite Glass adhesive as a product. And the Super glue product is NOT an exact match. Both work fine to put my annealing mistakes back together, but the Loctite means I can still take decent slides of them.

Just FYI
