Bandsaw needed????

I am casting and doing Pate de verre and have put off buying a saw for a long time due to the fear factor. My pieces range from small to 12" in diameter. I am at a loss as to what my best investment on a saw would be. What size, model, make, where and uugh.....price. Any info would be most appreciated! Regina
