wire to hang glass

I searched the archive, but I must not be very good at it.

What is a good wire to fuse between two layers of glass? Any idea where to buy it? I'd like to do some window hangings. I found some wire for jewelery but I think it is too thin to hold up anything substantial.

ditto, nichrome wire. i buy it from McMaster, $50 for big spool.
