Wondering who out there is doing architectural and site-specific kilnformed glass (as opposed to work which is meant for a gallery). I know you are, Bert, and BJ Katz, - there must be others.

Post a reply or send an email. Thanks.

also, bullseye mentions this:

also you might like looking at non-fused architectural glass panels made in dalle de verre method. google it ... i don't have any specific links to share with you, unfortunately.

This week I'll complete a baptismal font (a big bowl) that was designed by an architect for a specific site in a church. And I do a lot of light fixtures. I don't think that really qualifies me as the type of specialist you're asking about though.

I took Warren Langley's class at Pilchuck earlier this summer so I'm thinking about going into truly large scale work. But that might require that I take on a partner/investor so I can build another, bigger kiln and take advantage of someone that knows something about business and selling. I'm a good problem solver, not a good organizer.

Specifically wondering who on this board is doing architectural stuff - and, specifically involving or incorporating kilnformed glass.

Hi Paul

I've been doing kilnformed accents for my stained glass commissions and carved panels, am currently working on my commission for fused panels in a custom door and am heading for architectural work...I will be having a large kiln built in January for that purpose.

I love mixing the techniques together.

I have been doing architectural glass for a couple of years now - tile murals, cabinet doors, windows, large panels for commercial spaces...I'd really like to get into some lighting!
Currently I am working on an installation for the U of O - a lot of tiles glued to plate glass panels and backlit. I keep working larger and larger. That bigger kiln is getting closer, too!
Are you doing architectural work yet, yourself?

We have been adding larger kilns and doing more architectural commissions. With our waterjet we cut many of the large pieces for the present Bullseye show. Harry Waterjet Design Hillsboro, OR.
