sinkhole question

Post by Lisa Allen »

i am firing half inch thick pattern bar strips butted together and I am getting some sinkholes in some places where the seams are, primarily in the transparent colored areas. I am thinking that I am not firing hot enough and if I increase the temp, the surface will level out. I only went to 1450 and am thinking that I will leave it dammed and go up again but to 1500 this time. Anybody got any thoughts?

Thanks Lisa

So upping the temp will work.......thanks. Now, I used thinfire under the slices and I would like to just refire as is, leaving the dams, the paper and the 1/8" paper dam liners. Any problems with that? Do I need to pull it out and put new thinfire?

thanks, Lisa

As long as you haven't disturbed anything you can refire as it is. Don't forget to come up slow. Good luck
