Ultrasonic machining of glass combines high frequency vibration combined with an abrasive slurry to very precisely remove material. There are numerous shops that can do ultrasonic drilling. In some cases they can gang drill many holes at on time. It requires a tool to be made for specific applications. A while back I sent quartz discs 2" dia. to have 100 1mm holes drilled in each. They came out beautifully. The company was either Sonic Mill, or Alpha Precision. I can't remember.
