Edges on Bowls

I am looking to get a nice clean flat edge on bowls. Previously, I have cut the shape, used a wet belt sander, then slumped into a mold. I am looking to achieve a flat edge on the bowl and not sure what to use. I am looking at Covington Automatic Vibrating Lap machines. Is this the correct machine to achieve this?? Any comments as to what direction I should be going would be helpful!!

Thanks
Trish

Yes, a lap machine is the way to go to get an edge parallel with the base.

Talk to the people at Covington. A rociprolap machine is not what you want. A flat lap machine is what is usually used to achieve a flat lip that is parallel to the base. Also check out ASW flat lap machines in California, and flat lap disks by HIS Glassworks, as well as their informative videos. Sometimes the bulk os the lip is removed with a tile say, and the rest ground down with the flat lap.
Good luck, and have fun.
