float slump irregularities

Post by slats »

Fused an 18 inch float , 2 layers, mica and pwdered glass around the sides, middle design was a circular piece of copper. Okay, fuse was gr8...Good copper coloring etc.....Slumped into a shallow round mold...Sides became irregular - as if they were "pulled" ..Had some bubbles "Separation of the 2 layers of glass" in two areas....Why would this happen....Would could have caused the stretching of the glass and the bubbles when they were no bubbles during the first fuse? I used Graham Stone's schedule for 1/4" float slump(dont remember it off hand) He did not have a schedule in his book for 2 layers of 1/8" so I used the schedule of one layer of 1/4" since it was already fused.

Also need a supplier for stands for drop-outs.

Really do appreciate all you help!!!!!!

Try Aftosa.com for stands. I use their stands for "hat bowls."
