Mold Storage Ideas

I'd like to keep my molds in good shape, so I'm looking for ways to store them. As with most people, space is at a premium. The flimsy boxes that the molds arrive in are annoying, so any suggestions on how to keep molds from getting damaged while they are waiting to be used would be most helpful.

I just stack them gently.....trying not to scratch. I have them as much as 12 high with no problems. Stack like sizes together. Well made molds do not brake easily. Boxes just get in the way in a busy studio.

Like Laurie, I stack mine so I can see what I've got and maximize the space that boxes would otherwise consume. I put a sheet of packing foam between the larger ones.

I guess they're not as fragile as I thought. Thanks for the reassurance -- just carefully stack them with maybe a little packing foam to boot.

I do much the same thing. Actually, I worry more about scratching the kilnwash coating on the mold that hurting the mold itself. Unless the mold is really big, a paper towel between each does the trick.

I use bubble wrap (with the small bubbles) folded in half and taped on the edges to create a pouch that is custom sized for each mold. Stack them without worry of scratches. A large roll at an office supply store is fairly inexpensive and I always have some on hand to wrap glass for gift giving.
