I know you get what you pay for, BUT I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on starter carving wheels for battuto. Something a novice like myself can cut their teeth on (no pun intended) with reasonable results and without spending $600.00 on a sintered diamond wheel at His Glass
I was thinking starting with a 325 grit and moving up. Should I go with diamonds or the poly resin bonded stuff. or the VID ones inbetween.
Any thoughts

Re: Carving wheels
Take a look at the lapidary wheels that Kingsley North carries. They carry 4" diameter x 1" thick radius wheels that work very well. www.kingsleynorth.com

Re: Carving wheels
I recently bought some wheels from Brad,

have not had a chance to try them yet, still setting up my new 'Baby Denver' ---Denver SAG1--- but used Brad's wheels in his studio and was happy with them,
also bought a couple of carving wheels from Denver (Brad did not have those in stock ). Their electroplated wheels were more reasonable than most sources.
Please share with us what you find with regards to sources and prices.
Have fun and hope you are as excited as I am to be playng with the lathe!
