Deep vessel

I took a class back in August from Karl Harron. It was a great class and Karl is an excellent instructor. He will be teaching at Bullseye this spring. The irregular edge was a happy mistake, Karl calls it a wibble. The wibble works, I think.

What a lovely piece and such a lucky wibble! Do you plan to make more?

Yes, I definately hope to make more of these deep vessels. I'm shopping around for long gloves, a heat resistant jacket and a face shield so I can open the hot kiln to manipulate the mold. In the meantime I have 3-4 bowls just about ready for the deep slump. I love that you can see both sides of the bowl and the edge.

Hummmm. Didn't know you had to do hot kiln manipulation with these. Be sure to post your new ones.

Beautiful for sure. Love the deep slump technique and the wonderful surprises tooo. My piece went slightly sideways and I loved it so I left it and set it on its side. I am slumping a very large piece that is 32 inchs wide and worried my kiln is tooo small but we shall see. I took every bit of care to make it work as I have 3 more I have to do. \hmmmmmm! but lovely.

I think this is just simply stunning! You mentioned that you took the class at Bullseye - was this done in their 3 step mold system? Can you explain a bit more about the 'manipulation' that must be done?

Thanks!
