Bartlett Instruments made the DTC 800. They can usually refurbish the circuit board for a nominal fee.

They also make the RTC 1000. You might want to look at that one. Typically, Bartlett supplies the board attached to the front of the controller. You need to add a separate power supply. They will give you the spec. http://www.bartinst.com

Why would I want to consider changing?
Does the rtc 1000 offer any advantages?

Jim. I am not familiar with the 800 model. The RTC 1000 is the latest model of the 12 key controller. It does up to 3 zones, and has the capability to run a high temp limit control system. It is the least expensive, most powerful controller I know of. You can use it with mechanical, mercury, or SSR relays. It also has a computer interface you can add on that allows you to program on a computer and monitor and control it remotely. The cool thing is that they sell it to you not as a plug and play, but as a stand alone circuit board behind the 12 key front. You cut the hole in the box, add the power supply and relays and you are in business.

If your DTC 800 can't be repaired for a reasonable price, the RTC-1000 offers the advantage of being currently in production, which the DTC 800 is not. There are probably some other advantages too, but I would consider that to be the big one. ;)

The RTC-1000 info page is here - http://www.bartinst.com/kilns/2
