Been looking over the messages and don't see any mention of any use of the cheaper Asian PID controllers for ramp/soak for fused glass.Any specific reason,or people just use what comes with their kiln?
I did make my own kiln and wont to upgrade to a newer controller for slower ramps/soaks than my old Fireright OV9 gave.

Why?
They work.
With a battery backup system short power failures can be ignored as the unit will continue the firing when the power comes back on
The value of a saved load of glass can be more than the price of the unit.
Combine with Mercury relays for long high temperature holds.
Worried about mercury leakage if there was a failure? place a steel bread baking pan underneath your relay box.

Digitry is expensive but worth it. Call Ron Digitry and see what he's got in used reconditioned ones.

The glassmakers who make their own equipment go to Partlow and Watlow and other makers for really cheap DIY controllers. I'd rather spend the time on making glass, hence the 4 used GB1s in my studio.
