yikes now what ?

Post by twinkler2 »

hi

I just got up to check on the plate I worked on last night. I now have one of the pins that holds the element fused in it :(

Any ideas of how to go about getting it out without destroying the plate?

thanks

Atomic Pulse Laser.

Sorry, I don't think there is a way.

No hope on this one. Chalk it up as a sacrificial offering.

I had a feeling I wouldn't be able to save the piece..... I'm thinking POT MELT for the pieces that can be saved :)

Thanks guys

Hi,
Maybe it can be saved- depends how the pin is fused in. I just tried my first combing about a week ago, and didn't go fast enough on my first pull, so I hit the roof of my kiln and brick fell into the glass and fused in. I loved the piece, but had to get the chunks of brick out- so I used small diamond pads (about 1") on my dremel, and ground the areas out, then sandblasted the entire surface, and fire polish. If the pin is only tack fused on surface, maybe you could use a similar aproach. Otherwise, cut it up and refuse it!
