Making Pattern Bars

Hi Everyone:
I'm at a stage where I have a box of failures (bowls that didn't work out and only got to the first full fuse stage) and don't want to just throw them away or break up and use as frit. Please let me know what you think of my idea:
If I slice it up with my band saw in let's say one inch or one and half inch strips - could I stack them and make them into pattern bars??? If so, as they have already been fired once, what type of schedule am I looking at for the bars?? Also, if the reason is that I didn't make them into bowls was because I ended up with a devit problem, will the devit show up in my pattern bars??? Any other suggestions for using up mistakes??
Thanks ahead of time.

Sure you can make pattern bars out of them, BUT FIRST sandblast off the devit.

If you need to sandblast Kathie, Consolidated Compressor down in Foothills industrial park is your best bet for a rental booth as far as I know. E-mail me if you want more info.
