Re: What you cannot live without...
Thanks so much, everyone. There are so many excellent ideas! And things I would have never thought of. I absolutely will do the scale layout so I can get the best use of the room. As of now I work with stained glass and warm glass. I am going to Vegas for the Bead and Glass Expo at the end of March ...

What you cannot live without...
I am getting a new studio built. It will be approximately 16'x20'. No more working in whatever corner I can find! Since I will be building it from the ground up, tell me what it is in your studio that you can't do without.
Thanks, K

Re: Screen Melt Too Thick
Thanks for the info. I have used the paper with puddle cabs and it didn't get into the glass but they are less than 1". Since there is some opaque glass aand I have no way to sandblast, I will try my luck with the paper.
Thanks again,
K

Screen Melt Too Thick
I tried my new screen melt yesterday and it came out 12mm thick. I used the round 8" round screen melt system. I went to the manufacturer website for the instructions. They said the volume of glass for that size is 750 grams. I weighed it out and stacked it. I am please with the glass but it ca...

Layering a plate
I want to make a Christmas cookie plate that will be a 9" square. It is a very shallow slump. My questions: I have a solid nine inch base layer. My design of a penguin with a Christmas hat on will have a couple of places with two layers. I want to contour fuse the plate then slump it. So my pla...

Re: Getting Frustrated
Do you think I could full fuse again to put it back together and slump it once more?

Here's my firing schedule: 1 400d/hr to 1250 hold 30min 2 600d/hr to 1480 hold 10min 3 AFAP to 900 hold 40min 4 150d/hr to 700 off The majority of the reused pieces were dichro on black, a few on red glass. They were scattered across the plate in no particular pattern. The plate ended up being just ...

Getting Frustrated
Each time I have tried to make a plate or platter with my 90 coe glass I end up with some kind of problem. So I tried using 96 coe and it seems to work better for me. I honestly do not know why but I am going with it. Making pendant pieces 1 to 2 inches with 90 coe is fine. I may have a bubble here ...

Fusing/Slumping or Tack/Slumping at same time
Has anyone fused and slumped at the same time? Or, tack fused and slumped? I have some shallow ceramic molds to slump into and wonder if I can do it at the same time.

Fusing non rated glass.
I have quite a bit of regular stained glass that is not rated with a COE. I have used some of it to make 1x1" cabs for necklaces. I tried to put some low fire gold decals on them but they didn't come out very well. The gold had a crackle appearance. I contacted customer service at the business ...
