Re: firing problem
Wrong link apologies. Here is the correct http://www.kilns.com.au/product/glass-k ... skiln200tl.
We have not purchased it yet. Just doing some homework. We do not have access to 3 phase, only 2 phase.

Re: firing problem
Based on the following information do you think this kiln would have difficulty getting up to the highest temp it is made for (1000 c) Single phase 25 amp 6kw (internal dimensions 1250 x 650 x 250) Apparently it runs off a regular household plug and in Australia we have 240v. see http://www.kilnfrog...

Re: Mounting Glass in a Shadow Box, Etc.
I like the idea of shadow boxes too but think it would be more interesting to use a dark opaque around the perimeter of your work (making it look like a boxed frame) and imbed the work in clear. How cool would that look (much heavier to hang though)!

Re: firing problem
Wow I love that the glass community has so many talented people that share. It helps when people explain stuff like the amps/volts and watts like that! thanks

Re: Tree trunk/bark color
Agreed about using red blue and purple for tree trunks to make it more interesting. Was actually reading an art site ( http://willkempartschool.com/how-to-instantly-add-depth-to-your-mountains-in-acrylic-landscape-painting/) That explains why we should think about darker colours to give depth. As th...

Then put them back together with a little gap between pieces and sprinkling black frit in the gaps (letting some fall on the grey glass itself). Then firing that. Looks pretty g...

Tree trunk/bark color
Anyone come up with a good base/mix of frit to come up with a realistic tree trunk color? I have tried grey with various brown and or black medium 90 coe frits and a mix of grey/black and also brown frit. I was thinking maybe I should wash some fine powdered black frit across some grey base. This wi...

Re: Lap Grinder problem
Another thought to keep in mind is if you have a new grinding disk it will take some time to wear down to a more manageable piece of equipment, in other words the more use the disk has the easier it is to control.
