I took a class last fall from Robyn Alexander in Berkeley to learn about working with PMC. It's so easy to use and is an excellent medium to combine with fused glass. I was able to make 4 silver pendants with glass cabachons from just one small package of PMC. You can also use PMC for making unique ...

Frit paintings
Here are some frit paintings I've recently completed. Would love to hear your comments and suggestions for displaying them. The smallest one is 3" x 5" and the largest is 9" x 12". This is my first attempt at posting a picture--hope it works! http://community.webshots.com/album/1...

studio remodel
I converted my detached 1-1/2 car garage into a glass studio last year. I installed a set of French doors on the side that faces my backyard, and added two skylights to the ceiling--then insulated and finished the walls. I put in a small window heat-pump unit that is both a heater and an air-conditi...

Hi Penny, I live in Sacramento and have a business/artisan policy through Farmer's Insurance. It's in conjunction with my homeowner's policy and an umbrella policy and covers theft, injury to others, and a bunch of other stuff. Since I already had the homeowner's and umbrella policy in place, my bro...

I'd opt for the Saturday afternoon and serve light munchies and decent wine.....I've done several home shows on Saturday and did very well. They started at 1:00 and ended at 4:00. In two weeks I'll be doing a show at a private home on a late Sunday afternoon. I have concerns with the day/time but wi...

Once the glass strip has slumped over the bracelet mold, you carefully reach inside the kiln with your graphite tongs and tuck the end pieces under. IMPORTANT: Be sure the kiln is shut off before you reach in with the tongs, and wear protective eyewear and gloves. It's tricky at first, but once you ...

Gallery follow-up
I'm wondering what other artists do about follow-up communications with gallery owners once they've gotten their work into the shop? The first gallery owner and I were constantly communicating with each other about pieces that had sold; what other people wanted; etc. My last three galleries have had...

ABI Boot Camp for Artists
Are any Warm Glass BB members attending the "Boot Camp for Artists" seminar next week in North Carolina? I'm going and would love to meet up with some fellow glass artists. Let me know!
Thanks,
JJ

Class on making metal stands
Awhile back I spoke with the people at Sundance Glass in Mountainview, California about taking their class for making metal stands. They didn't have any classes scheduled since the person teaching was away for a couple of months and they didn't have anyone signed up or interested in taking the class...
