Great thank you!
Do you have a view on how hot the glass needs to be to generate the bubble effect?
I ran to full fuse last time, but wondered whether a contour or even tack fuse would suffice, as this would cause less loss of definiton of the stringer..

Re: Bubble trouble
Thanks Brad; much appreciated.
I'd missed that the original photo did not upload properly, so I have reposted this, in a smaller file size.
The stringers were 1mm diameter and set at 10mm centres.
I will try again with stringers set more closely together.

Bubble trouble
Hi all, I have tried to make a piece with an air bubble trapped in squares formed by stringers. To do this, I tack fused stringers in parallel lines at regular intervals, on two pieces of glass, then fused the two pieces together having turned one through 90 degrees with te stringers sandwiched by t...

Re: Frit colouring
Thanks Don.
The reason for my interest is because I have access to some float glass, and stained glass bought for making copper foiled panels- and was hoping to find ways to use these materials up in my new warm glass hobby.

Frit colouring
I have been wondering about making coloured frit inexpensively from float glass. I've read that the pigments in alcohol inks will not withstand firing termperatues, but have wondered whether shaking frit pieces in enamel stirred through a liquid medium to coat the frit could work, or whether there a...

Frit compatibility
I have read about the need to use compatible glass in a kiln, because mixing glass with different rates of expansion creates stresses that can cause work to crack. It would seem to me that this is particularly relevant to larger pieces of glass with greater surface contract where stresses can form.....

Fusing glass to a ceramic tile
Hi all, Perhaps a dumb question, but here goes.. I'm wondering about fusing a circular ring (or or perhaps later, slumping several rings) cut from a bottle, placed on a glazed ceramic tile, with the intention of the fire polished glass ring fusing onto the tile (to make a circular frame for painting...

Newbie questionabout kiln setting notation
Hi, My first kiln arrived today- am very excited and keen to get started. Looking through the WG forums, I noticed a shorthand for kiln settings: 1-500°,1100°,10 2-250°,1300°, 5 3-300°,1425°, 5 4-full, 950°, 40 Am I right in understanding this notation to mean that Stage 1 used a ramp speed of 500 d...
