I think your playgrounds has the most potential. I am only in my first year of selling at galleries, so my advice might be helpful for you at this point. I agree with Andrew that bread and butter money is good. I took the time to develop a product that was quick and easy but I enjoyed. It is not art...

Cool. My father was born in Riga, I've always wondered what it is like out there. I didn't make it out there when I visited Europe, but hope to do so sometimes.

I'll post a pic when I get the portfolio pic done. Those have the light and color view, but you don't really see the texture, just the effect of it.

Got another one in the kiln......

Okay got it out. The firing was a success. This is the basic texture I put on most of my pieces. I have been doing it with fiber paper and making up a new one for each piece. This will work out to be much easier. The texture is not as deep as I normally do. I am in the process of making a permanent ...

Thank you, thank you. There is one in Tempe which is the next town over.

The one from yesterday should be cool enough soon, I can hardly wait..... I peeked and at least the borders stayed and no holes!

okay, I have one in the kiln with the fiber paper rim with sand holding it up. We'll see how that comes out tomorrow. I'm cleaning up the one with the problem. I had sprinkled some powder on the sand design to see what it would look like. It must of had the sand issue enter in - right? I sandblasted...

I spent awhile going through the archives getting ratios and info. I'm sort of slowing at getting things in the beginning, so I didn't get it about the water either. I emailed Bert and he explained to me how to do it. He uses olivine sand, which I haven't been able to locate yet, so I used a 50/50 r...

Cindy: I have been wanting to try this also - I have one question, okay this might be elementary but here goes - how do you get the sand back out of the kiln??? I just took my kiln shelf out, scooped out most of it, then used a ruler to get the thinner layer and then finally a brush. All with my ma...

I'm in LOVE!!

I've wanted to try sand in the kiln for over a year. Finally had the time and info and pieces to use. I just did a tester yesterday, I am thrilled! I just did some scroll designs with a sharpie and I am amazed at how much detail is retained. I don't understand how the glass doesn't mush the sand dow...

I've had that happen a number of times. I don't know the technical reason of why it happens. I seem to have eliminated the problem by making a rim with a strip of fiber paper and damming. I learned that in Doug and Jack's class. In smaller pieces the fiber paper holds it enough and I just dam the jo...

Marty wrote: How about the multifold boxes- one size folds in several places?
Is that a box that can make different sizes? I haven't run across those kind, where do you find them?

Also, I'm taking a few pieces out for my first gallery delivery. Should those be in boxes too?

I LOVE the green and black bowl! I didn't even notice the arrows until I read it in the posts. I went back and tried it. Didn't even know there was more to look at. Glad I went back since that's when I saw the green and black one. I didn't try the back button, but then just clicked on the titles. I'...

Wow Kitty, Thank you! That is some really helpful information. I am so glad that I am familliar with the area, it'll make getting around so much easier. I'd like your friend's number, he certainly deserves a lunch for his help.
